Born into wealth and the American combining weight of magnanimousness, Paris Hilton was the oldest of Kenneth Hilton and Kathy Richards' four-spot children, and an heritor to the family's hotel chain (her great grandpa, Conrad Hilton, was the founder). Growing up in New York and L.A., Paris, though she was often seen with celebrities, didn't turn a house list until her ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon released a sex taping of theirs onto the Internet in 2003, in short earlier her Fox reality bear witness, The Simple Life, was set to air travel. The exhibit, which filmed Paris and (former) topper friend Nicole Richie as they tried to live on an Arkansas farm without the modern conveniences they were used to (credit card game, cell phones), became a hit, and most correct away, Paris' discover and effigy were everyplace. Paris, at present famed for beingness celebrated, began dabbling in modeling, committal to writing, movies, and of course, euphony. Drawing breathing in from the blithesome, summertime pop of Gwen Stefani and Ashlee Simpson, the album's figure one single, "Stars Are Blind," was released in the springtime of 2006, followed by her self-titled full-length debut in August, with plans for a followup already on the mode.

Sam Sparro

Spin a globe and put a finger down: chances are, the wherever your feel lands, the locale loves and plays host to its own dance scenes. Having lived all over the earth, Sam Sparro has absorbed so many of these styles, along with pop music, someone and regular gospel.

The 25-year-old singer, songwriter and beatmaker grew up with musical blood, as his bio states: "His great-grandfather was a professor of music and his Maltese grandfather is a professional trumpet player who performed with, among others, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. Sams grandmother continues to sing and dance, while his father, Chris Falson, is an accomplished gospel singer."

At the other end of this, Sparro has crafted his excellent debut, electro-pop dance effort, "Black and Gold," which has made its way onto Billboard's Top Electronica and Heatseekers charts. We caught up with the L.A.-by-way-of-Sydney-based artist to reveal more about his past and what his career looks like today.

Over what period was this record written and recorded?

Most of the record was recorded between Dec. 2007 to March 2008 but a few of the tracks were recorded in my bedroom over the last 5 years.

So many of your vocal cues seem to be influenced by great women -- Whitney, Sade, the ladies of Motown... did you learn to sing along to the albums of female vocalists? What male singers were most influential to you?

I did grow up listening to a lot of female vocalists. Probably my two biggest male vocal influences are Prince and D'angelo.

You've lived all over the world... how does Los Angeles inspire your work as opposed to London or Sydney, and so forth?

I was inspired by the emerging electronic and dance scenes in Los Angeles and some of the brilliant dance parties Downtown. I tend to get the most work done in Los Angeles because it's laid back and there's lots of time and space. London is where I go to struggle and grow and be inspired by new stuff -- but the music in London is much more controlled than it used to be. Sydney has had some brilliant new music in the last few years -- a lot of if through Modular Records -- I'm inspired by a lot of that stuff.

How long did you live in London? How did you make your living there (or did you)? Who were some characters there that really helped your way?

I'm living in London at the moment. I've spend a lot of time there since I was a teenager at least a good 3-4 years by now. I used to make my living doing all sorts, anything from working in a factory to bar and restaurant work to temping at record companies.

You just played the 02 Wireless Fest recently. How do you like festival crowds as opposed to smaller venues? What's your favorite kind of venue to play? Any certain hour?

The U.K. Festival crowds have been our best yet -- Glastonbury and then Wireless. They were absolutely loving it. I think so far it's got to be the outdoor tents....late at night.

Judging from some photos, it seems visual elements and fashion play a big part of your show. Do you take much stock in fashion? What's your setup, generally, for shows? What other personnel is up there performing with your or behind the scenes?

I like to dress up on stage -- it is a SHOW afterall. I've usually got an 8 piece set up. Myself and vocals and keys, three incredible backing singers, drums, bass, keys and laptop/synths.

It's been cited that gospel music was really influential to your vocal abilities. Has it been a while since you've stepped foot inside a church?

I haven't been to church for years apart from weddings and funerals. I do still love gospel music though.

What sort of electronica and dance scenes do you feel like you were truly a part of as a participant, or performer?

I've always been a chameleon and have flitted about lots of different scenes. I used to go to goth clubs, mod clubs, drum & bass clubs, house parties, 2-steps nights, hip-hop clubs, gay clubs, rare-groove parties, nu-disco nights, electroclash clubs -- I like a bit of lots of different things. But, much like I don't practice patriotism or nationalism -- I've never felt like I belonged anywhere in particular.

Your family is obviously very musical. have they always been supportive of your pursuit?

My family has always been incredibly supportive of me, my grandparents in particular. They paid for my first EP to be printed up. My mum and dad always bought me equipment and my dad would show me how to use ProTools and plug-ins and that. I couldn't have done this without my family.

Amy Winehouse rushed to hospital after suffering reaction to medication

Singer Amy Winehouse was discharged from hospital this dawn after receiving
emergency discussion for a reaction to "medication".

A spokeswoman for University College Hospital, where the Rehab star fagged the
night, said she was ushered out via a private exit shortly after 9.45am.

She was said to be in undecomposed spirits after a "comfy night".

An ambulance was called to the 24-year-old's house in Camden, north London,
yesterday evening later on she suffered the reaction to medication, according
to her spokesman, Chris Goodman.

Winehouse's father, Mitch, was believed to have spent the night at the
singer's bedside. He entered the infirmary at 11.50pm and asked reporters and
photographers to entrust the family alone.

However, when asked how his daughter's condition was, he held up a base of KFC
and replied: "This is how serious it is."

The singer has publicly battled health problems of late, with the
imprisonment of her hubby, Blake Fielder-Civil, causing obvious stress.

She was caught on picture in January apparently smoking crack cocain in footage
obtained by the Sun newspaper.

She also spent a erolia minutilla in rehab before well-received performances at the
Grammys in February.

Then in June, sets at the Glastonbury fete and the Nelson Mandela 90th
birthday concert were thrown into doubt when she collapsed at home and
underwent tests.

Her latest scare began yesterday when an ambulance was called to her home at
8.40pm.

Best known for his term of office in the hard-to-peg-down Welsh outfit Super Furry Animals, Gruff Rhys has a long history in British rock. Born in 1970, Rhys played in Creation Records' Emily as well as Ffa Coffi Pawb, but his first foray into the melodic liberal arts was at the mature age of little Phoebe, when he wrote an funny slight bit about a prepare driver who's contemplating his possess last. In 1990, a probability meeting helped lead to the developing of what would get Super Furry Animals. First a left field techno grouping, then later a whacked-out guitar group, SFA got much of its persona and respect from Rhys' freaky and obscure lyrical slants. After many critically acclaimed singles and full-lengths, Rhys released his solo field day Yr Atal Genhedlaeth in 2005. And in true Gruff Rhys shape, it was an only Welsh affaire. He followed up the waiver with a minor sample distribution of dates in his native motherland. WhenSuper Furry Animals touched to Rough Trade, the label as well picked up Rhys' solo cultivate and released his instant album, Candylion, early in 2007. The record album was released by Team Love in the U.S. shortly subsequently.

Joan As Police Woman, To Survive

Joan Wasser experienced nearly every high and low that the music industry and life in general has to offer en-route to the release of her debut album, Real Life, in 2006. The ups hit their pinnacle when she played an integral part of Anthony And The Johnsons' success in 2005, the downs descended to their lowest point when her then-boyfriend, Jeff Buckley, tragically died in 1997. Little wonder then, that Real Life was an album of extreme emotion, topped off with the simply stunning and utterly heartbreaking Eternal Flame.

So the making of the traditionally difficult second album must have seemed a little less daunting to Wasser. Indeed, her only problem seems to have been finding time to actually get into a studio to record it, as the gathering momentum around her career has seen her tour Real Life for the best part of 18 months.

Thankfully, time was carefully managed, and To Survive is everything that a fan of that delicious debut could have hoped for – a piano-led exploration of love and life, that drips with sophistication.

The lead single, To Be Loved, is typical of what's on offer, a slinky downbeat number that slides around your soul, leaving you more than satisfied.

It is, by no means, the only beauty on offer. To Be Lonely is a subtle splendour, Wasser's voice curling around a simple piano melody, while the title track picks up a similar thread, its delicacy adorned with a lick or two of luscious strings.

Elsewhere, Magpies, with its breezy brass and references to Joan of Arc, is a gentle revelation, as is the equally impressive Hard White Wall, a meandering delight that peaks and troughs in thrilling style.

But it is the closing To America that really bursts out of the collection. An opus to her homeland which is at once both indignant and celebratory, it features Rufus Wainwright and could easily stand as a sister piece to his own Going To A Town.

Joan Wasser had plenty to do to equal the brilliance of her debut, but in To Survive, she has done just that, cementing her status as as an intriguing and compelling artist.

Ulrika Jonsson marries for third time

Television presenter Ulrika Jonsson has spoken of her joy at marrying for the third time.
The 40-year-old presenter, who married advertising executive Brian Monet at the weekend, said: "I don't think I have ever felt happier."
The wedding, which will be featured in Hello! magazine, reportedly took place at Blakes Hotel in London.
Jonsson told Hello!: "We have both been married before. I have three children from previous relationships and I am pregnant. You don't get more modern than that."
"I don't think I have ever felt happier. I don't live my life for the critics and I have three amazing, happy children."
"If I were to listen to people and what they thought, people I don't care about, I would be even more nuts than I am now," she said.
Speaking about her wedding dress, she said: "There is no hope of my being skinny with a bump. If I look like a beached whale, there's nothing I can do about it."
There were only 14 guests in attendance at the ceremony, plus Jonsson's three children. Her fourth baby is due in May.

Indiana Jones Goes For World Domination

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL struck gold at the international box office this weekend, raking in $143 million (GBP71.5 million) on its first four days on release.

The Steven Spielberg-directed movie has already taken the U.S. by storm, with a $56 million (GBP28 million) haul in the first 48 hours after hitting cinemas on Thursday (22May08).

And its impressive draw continued around the globe - making the action adventure the sixth biggest foreign launch of all time, behind the likes of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Spider-Man 3 and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is the second most popular movie outside the U.S. market with $18 million (GBP9 million), while Iron Man and romantic comedy What Happens in Vegas are tied at three with $12.5 million (GBP6.25 million) each.

Rounding out the top five is Speed Racer, which continues to slip out of interest with just $3 million (GBP1.5 million).

The Veronicas - Veronicas Star Denies Anorexia Reports

THE VERONICAS star JESS ORIGLIASSO has denied reports she is suffering from an eating disorder.

The petite Australian singer sparked fears for her health after she was photographed looking very thin at the MTV Australia awards on Saturday (26Apr08) in Sydney.

But Origliasso, 23, insists her weight loss is due to her tiny five-foot (1.52 metres) frame.

She says, "It's genetic, it's just one of those things. I'm feeling very, very good. I'm feeling healthy and good and strong."

Her twin sister Lisa adds, "People don't realise we're midgets, we're barely five foot and our mum's even smaller."

Razorlight's Johnny Borrell to perform with Lembit Opik

Razorlight's Johnny Borrell is set to share a stage with a band formed entirely of MPs.

On June 3, Borrell will perform solo at London's Science Museum for The Big Ask to highlight climate change issues, and will be supported by the five-piece.

The five politicians, including Lembit Opik, will perform a rendition of John Denver's 'Leaving On A Jet Plane' in the museum's Aviation Room to highlight the campaign's main point.

The Big Ask is urging legislators to include emissions from aviation and shipping, some of the highest from any UK industry, in the upcoming climate change bill restricting these releases.

As well as Opik, the band of cross-party MPs dubbing themselves The Aviators features the SNP's Peter Wishart, Conservative Anne Milton and Labour's Emily Thornberry and Ian Cawsey.

Wishart is the only currently-serving MP to have been on 'Top Of The Pops' - the keyboardist featured on the show with his former band Runrig, and was also a one-time member of Big Country.

Cawsey and Wishart are also members of the parliamentary rock group MP4.

Opik is engaged to Cheeky Girl Gabriela Irimia.

Despite a want of ill fame, multi-instrumentalist Jamey Aebersold has compiled a immense recorded legacy since the mid-'60s. Aebersold has recorded on alto adolphe Sax, bass and piano, and many of his releases have accented themes, specially compositions by jazz giants. He power be better known as a teacher, label owner and manipulator of a mail order service Double-Time Records. JA Records has been in business since the '70s, with dates focusing on deeds written by Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Charlie Parker and others, plus roger Sessions highlighting movements, Aebersold's compositions or styles. Aebersold's best, or at least most exciting musical instrument, is countertenor, where he demonstrates good deftness and technique. His pianissimo and bass playing are not as effected, though still competent. He has more than 50 titles on record album and disc listed.
